Moonstone has been used in jewelry for centuries. Its unique iridescent sheen resembles the light of the moon, hence its name. Rainbow moonstone is a white form of labradorite feldspar, which is why its flash is stronger and more colored than the glow of classic moonstone. It rates approximately 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale.
