These smooth oval beads are a deep teal to dark ocean blue, glassy and translucent, with fine natural fracture lines and touches of rusty brown veining that give each bead its own character. Apatite is a calcium phosphate mineral that crystallizes in igneous and metamorphic rock, and much of the blue apatite on the market comes from Madagascar and Brazil. It is the reference mineral for 5 on the Mohs hardness scale, so it is softer than quartz and best stored apart from harder beads. In metaphysical belief, blue apatite is linked with clarity, motivation and creative expression.
