Note: The rainbow in this obsidian is very subtle. The photos are from the batch of stones that your strand will come from, but the camera tends to capture more rainbow than the human eye does. The rainbow is more noticeable in the larger sizes and less noticeable in the smaller sizes.

This natural Mexican Black Rainbow Obsidian has not been treated to enhance color or clarity in any way.

Obsidian is a glass-like volcanic stone resulting from the rapid cooling of lava. Being an amorphous stone, it does not have a geometric crystal structure like other minerals. Obsidian is most commonly black but can also be gray, dark brown, green, and everything in between.

Rainbow Obsidian is known as a stone of recovery and transformation from dark to light. When exposed to light at different angles, this beautiful gemstone shows its multicolored rainbow sheen.
