These smooth round beads are a pale lime to soft yellow green, glassy and translucent with a gentle glow, and the color stays fairly even from bead to bead. New jade is a trade name for bowenite, a dense, fine-grained variety of serpentine rather than true jade, and it forms where magnesium-rich rock is altered by hot water deep underground. In metaphysical belief, new jade is associated with harmony, renewal and good fortune.
