These faceted star beads are smoky black to deep charcoal, and many show a soft golden sheen that glows across the facets when the light hits them at an angle. Obsidian is natural volcanic glass that forms when silica-rich lava cools too quickly to crystallize, and the golden sheen comes from tiny gas bubbles and mineral inclusions lined up as the lava flowed. In metaphysical belief, golden obsidian is linked with protection, clarity and self-reflection. Small gold-tone seed beads space the stars on the strand.
