Recommendations

For beads 4mm and smaller, it is recommended to start with stringing wires no larger than .013inch / .33mm. This will ensure a proper fit and in most cases allow for feeding of the wire tip back through the beads for a clean finish.

Elastic cords can be used with beads 4mm and larger, but it will not fit through most beads smaller than 4mm. It's recommended to use 0.5mm elastic cord.

Bigger than advertised

I have ordered small beads (2mm & 3mm) from a variety of sources. They are typically fairly close in size. However, these 3mm amazonite beads are larger than advertised, closer to 3.5mm. I had a strand of 3mm black spinel beads in this order and it was very obvious that they were not the same size. While I do have a use for the larger beads, it is not what I wanted. They are very pretty so I will be keeping them.
