These faceted round beads are a dark violet blue with faceted sparkle. Iolite is the gem form of cordierite, a magnesium and aluminum silicate with a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, and it can look violet blue or gray depending on the angle. In metaphysical belief, iolite is associated with intuition and vision.
