Moonstone is a gemstone that has been used in jewelry for centuries. Its unique iridescent sheen resembles the light of the moon, hence its name. Moonstone is made of two feldspar minerals, orthoclase and albite, in fine alternating layers.

In metaphysical belief, moonstone is associated with success, good fortune, and wisdom. It is also traditionally associated with peace, harmony, and balance.

Moonstone is available in a range of colors, from white to yellow to pink. Moonstone has a Mohs hardness rating of 6-6.5 so it's relatively hard but care should be taken against abrasions.

Recommendations

For beads 4mm and smaller, it is recommended to start with stringing wires no larger than .013inch / .33mm. This will ensure a proper fit and in most cases allow for feeding of the wire tip back through the beads for a clean finish.

Elastic cords can be used with beads 4mm and larger, but it will not fit through most beads smaller than 4mm. It's recommended to use 0.5mm elastic cord.
