Bloodstone is a form of Chalcedony and is considered the most beautiful of the Jaspers.

According to legend, bloodstone was known to the Aztecs and used in ceremonial rituals, where a donor’s blood was said to activate the stone and place the donor under its control. Once the blood drips or is washed off of the stone, the person would then be freed from its power.
