A major avenue of the silk road from the Mediterranean Sea and the Persian Gulf, passed through Afghanistan where these beads originate. Even with a detailed archeological study, it is difficult to tell the true history and use of these glass artifacts. Although given their Afganistanian origin, it can be speculated that these beads are reworked fragments from ornate decorations, such as vases, chalices, plates, and other items used and enjoyed by ancient peoples trading goods along the silk road.
Excellent product and delivery of items was great.
The ancient beauty and color variations on these beads make for a really special piece of jewelry. I've used them as spacers in between Czech glass beads and I've also paired them with African turquoise (pictured). They give a nice rustic look. I will buy more and make a few more pieces with these!
